Sherry Ann Sturgill Smith, 73, of Jenkins, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2019. She died in the arms of her son in the very house she was born on September 24, 1945 to the late Dewey Sturgill and Elsie Cooper Sturgill.
Mrs. Smith was married on June 28, 1975 to Albert Dean Smith, of Jenkins, who survives her.
She was retired from the Jenkins Independent School District as well as a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Jenkins United Methodist Church, and devoted to her church and her family.
Over the years, Mrs. Smith enjoyed the company of her sisters who were always up for a great adventure. They traveled throughout the country experiencing the genteel flavor of the Old South, the briskness of a New England wind, and the majesty of the painted skies of the West. She never tired of seeking new experiences and liked to commemorate them with momentos from her excursions that more often than not took the form of miniature shoes. Her vast collection was helped along by family members and friends who took to bringing her the miniatures from their own travels. She loved to share her collection with visitors and could relate where each had originated and the memories that they inspired.
In recent years, Mrs. Smith was content to relive her adventures in the comfort of her home with her beloved husband, Albert, and son, Albert “Bo” Dewey Smith.
Also surviving are a sister, Elsie Dee Smith and her husband, Leighton, of Corinth, Kentucky, and a brother, Terry Truman Strugill and his wife, Phyllis, of Vine Grove, Kentucky, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members, church family and friends who will mourn her passing.
